In April 2015 Annette Scott and Alison Pighills, CF Practitioners from Queensland Health, visited Christchurch, New Zealand to deliver Calderdale Framework Training (on behalf EWS) for Allied Health services from the five South Island District Health Boards (DHBs).
This training was the initial stage of the regional implementation of the Calderdale Framework across the South Island. This project is an initiative of the Allied Health Scientific and Technical Workstream of the South Island Workforce Development Hub (we have changed our name from SIRTH, to this!!).
Twenty five Allied Health Professionals from across the five South Island DHBs attended the Foundation Day. Ten of these champions, subsequently completed days 1-3 of the Facilitator Training. They are now working back in their local services and Allied Health teams delivering Awareness Training, and planning and embarking on the initial stages of a group of regional CF pilots. It is anticipated these projects will involve both delegation to AHAs and professional skills sharing, and will be undertaken across a across a variety of clinical settings including community rehab, rural settings and acute services. The ten facilitators will complete their training in October.
