Review of 2017
Firstly Happy New Year! We are really excited as we enter 2018 but wanted to update things before we embark on our next adventures!
Our last news item of 2017 was about being finalists for the 4th time in the HSJ Awards Workforce Development Category. Sadly, we didn’t win but more importantly the collaborative work with NHS England and Health Education England developing The Integrated Urgent Care Workforce has been really well received by providers as they were pivotal in its development.
A huge thank you to all who worked so hard to get these excellent resources to fruition. Please take time to access these as it really is worth having a look.
Apart from this huge National piece of work, 2017 saw the start of CF Facilitator Training in NHS South West and the conclusion of CF Facilitator training in Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust where there has been some fantastic trans-disciplinary workforce development across AHP and nursing in a community setting. We are delighted that Sheila Dougherty is the first of the cohort to become a fully fledged CF Facilitator; well done Sheila!
Sheffield Teaching Hospital also set off with their second cohort of CF Facilitator training, with a group focus on cancer services. We will obviously keep you updated as outcomes emerge.
The latter part of the year was spent bidding for contracts with MacMillan Cancer Care and Health Education England in respect of Perinatal mental health. We were thrilled to learn these have been successful and look forward to working on both these really important agendas to improve services for patients by developing the workforce.
We are currently updating our website due to the increasing body of evidence that we want to make accessible and trying to get more of the case studies on too as we know this is something that helps when making the case for change.
So, an exciting and busy year behind us and looks like an exciting and busy year ahead too for all things CF.
